2009 Mustang GT – Rochester, Pa

Jeff recently purchased this black beauty which already had most of the mods like FMS cams, headers, 4.10 gears, and a CAI installed but the car never ran right. Bucking and surging he took the car to a local shop that had a dyno and had them work with a “well known” Mustang tuner over the internet to get this car dialed in. After 2 trips back the check engine light was off and the car was better but it was still not right. I met with Jeff and we datalogged the car to see if there was anything we could do to get the car more enjoyable to drive. The datalog showed that although wide open throttle air/fuel was close, the spark tables were off and fuel trims throughout the part throttle driving were off up to 18%. When they reach 25% they set a check engine light. This is the typical of a “mail order” type of tune on a modded engine, tested on an inertia type dyno. I will be writing an article soon that describes “proper tunes” and what to look for….check back soon. As far as Jeff’s future mods….well, let’s just say when you work for a company like Eaton you can only imagine what his thoughts are!
